Meet your next favorite book.
Regardless, something I've noticed about goodreads that seems SO fabulous is the fact that authors can also participate in this online world of literary lovers. It seems like a great opportunity to not only keep up with the reviews but also connect with your fans. And from what I've heard being accessible to your readers helps immensely when creating a, I'll call them family of readers.
Another feature I love about goodreads is that everything is literary-ized (Gosh, as a writer you'd think I'd be able to find a real word to make my point, huh?). Most of the adds are for... you guessed it: BOOKS! And there is an entire section devoted to book quotes, well, mostly book quotes some author quotes and a few other random ones that people feel they need to add but shouldn't- this is a book site, folks, com'on! Also you create virtual shelves for your books. Some come standard, like Read, Currently Reading, and Want to Read. But you can make your own too, like Books I Read in High School or Books My Kids Love, etc, etc, etc.
As all (it seems) great online tools these days do goodreads can hook up to your facebook so that you can show your activity on facebook or invite your facebook friends. Something I really like, though, is that you can recommend books to your goodreads friends. It really is like an online community for bookish nerds! And life, even online life, can't get much better than being surround by people who love books ; )
That's all for tonight, friends!
Jessica
ps We've kind of been taking our time reading our homework the past few weeks so I've been running out of subject matter. Hopefully you can appreciate the break, though. Coming soon though: Mrs. Dalloway & Shakespeare's Sonnets.
